Karen Purdy, born in Sarasota, Florida, is from a family of successful professional fine artists. She has attended college at Otis Parsons Art Institute, CA (1982), San Francisco State University, CA (BA, cum laud, Painting 1986) and Cal State Hayward, CA (post-bachelor study with renowned artist Mel Ramos 1991). She previously worked as a commercial artist for several years in the computer game industry, twice being awarded merits of excellence for her creative contributions.
