A Quarterly Missive of Alternative Concern

"wrapped up"

(50cm x 70cm, oil on canvas. A realistic painting of a figure in an unrealistic situation. The delicate string, seemingly harmless, is causing chaos and restriction for the figure.)

"barriers"

(20" x 28", oil on canvas. Exploring ideas about isolation and consciousness. We are all truly alone inside our own minds, but this isolation is a universal human experience that we all share.)

Kelly Adams was born in Newmarket, Ontario in 1996. She is currently working on her BFA at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, specializing in oil painting and digital collage. She recently spent eight months making art in Florence, Italy where she began to be interested in themes of the inner versus the outer self and the collective human experience. Adams uses images from reality combined with imagined elements to discuss abstract ideas about what it means to be human. For more, visit her website.
