(I make paintings like I make music like I write books. Fluid, messy, and moving forward. These paintings (like the rest of my work) celebrate the beautiful absurdity of being human. I do it for myself. Sometimes people like the results. Sometimes they don't. Either way, I keep making work.)

Steven Sherrill, Associate Professor of English and Integrative Arts at Penn State University, writes, teaches, paints, and captains the Allegheny Bilge Rats Shanty Choir in central Pennsylvania. He has five novels and a book of poems in the world, and he's written articles on contemporary artists for Modern Painters and TATE magazine. He is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship for Fiction in 2002. More of his work can be found here and here.
